Tango: Your Healthy Active Sitting Solution.
An office chair that strengthens your core, burns calories and reduces back pain.
More stylish, comfortable and practical than a balance ball chair.
The Tango is CoreChair’s new, cost-effective, ergonomic active sitting office chair. Designed by a Kinesiologist and Human Movement Specialist who truly understands what the human body needs.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS…
Unlike traditional office chairs with tall back “rests”, the Tango addresses back pain from the root cause– the pelvis. The sculpted seat cushion works in conjunction with the pelvic support cushion to provide you with the foundation for a healthy spine to prevent slumping, optimize sitting posture, and reduce back pain.
Movement helps avoid and alleviate back pain and stiffness. Our innovative technology allows you to move in all directions to burn calories, strengthen your core, and promote blood flow.
Highly Sculpted Seat
The seat of the Tango is aggressively sculpted to embrace your sit bones and provide you with even weight distribution to relieve pressure points, prevent sliding, and deliver luxurious comfort.
Innovative Pelvic Support
Unlike traditional office chairs with tall back “rests”, the CoreChair addresses back pain from the root cause– the pelvis. Tall backrests serve little purpose other than to allow your back muscles to turn off and rest all-day. Instead, we removed the backrest and designed an office chair with a highly sculpted seat cushion that works in conjunction with the pelvic support cushion to hug the top of your pelvis to automatically sit you up in an upright posture. This prevents slumping, optimizes sitting posture, and reduces stubborn sitting back pain.
Movement helps avoid and alleviate back pain and stiffness. Our innovative patented technology allows you to move in all directions up to 14 degrees with a pivot point immediately underneath the seat pan to allow you to stay balanced and have complete control over the chair’s movement. The CoreChair also features an adjustable resistance lever giving you the ability to lock the chair into place to restrict movement when needed.
Highly Sculpted Seat Cushion
The seat of the CoreChair is aggressively sculpted to embrace your sit bones and provide you with even weight distribution to relieve pressure points, prevent sliding, and deliver luxurious comfort. Customer reports has shown that the sculpted seat cushion may dramatically help relieve sciatica, tailbone, and hip pain.
THE TANGO DIFFERENCE
Is the Tango better than a ball chair? Why?
Many people who have endured long periods of time on an exercise ball as a substitute for their office chair, will share that they feel fatigued over time. This is mostly due to the fact that in order to maintain an ideal sitting posture, they have to engage their core muscles at a high level, continuously. This is exhausting and eventually, fatigue sets in which leads to a slumped over sitting posture causing back pain and muscle strain.
On the Tango, the pelvis is embraced and rendered in a neutral posture which alleviates the need to over engage your core. Your core muscles are engaged just enough on the Tango to activate and strengthen– not overuse.
In addition, the Tango is much safer than a ball chair. While sitting in a ball chair it is very easy to fall off– this does not happen in the Tango. This is because the Tango has it’s pivot point directly beneath your centre of balance. This means that in order to move the chair, the user must activate their muscles to push the seat through its 14 degrees of motion meaning the chair moves with you, not on its own.
We would be happy to connect you with one of our in-house Kinesiologists/ Product Specialists to fully explain the health consequences of sitting on a ball chair for extended periods of time. Give us a toll-free at 1.877.300.3797 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will the Tango really strengthen my core muscles?
While the Tango is not as unstable as an exercise ball, it does engage your core stabilizing muscles very much on par according to a study conducted by the Dept of Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo.
When we collapse into a traditional chair, which may indeed feel comfortable, our core stabilizing muscles are too relaxed and tend to approach atrophy or muscle wasting. Continuous low-level stimulation of these critical stabilizing soft tissues will definitely add to your core strength and you can expect a carryover effect on your other daily activities.
What is it like to sit in a Tango?
- More alert and productive throughout their workday
- Less stiffness in their hips and low back that they would normally experience when they stand up from a traditional chair after sitting for a period of time
- More comfort under their sit bones and tail bone
- Reduced upper back and neck pain
- Less strain on their back when reaching
Will Tango really help my back pain?
The CoreChair has helped thousands of people suffering from back pain caused by stiffness, scoliosis, poor posture, and other back issues.
The Tango was designed and developed by someone who truly understands the human body– Kinesiologist and Human-Movement Expert, Patrick Harrison. Unlike most office chairs that are designed to look a certain way, the Tango was designed with a research-based approach to address back pain, sitting discomfort, and sedentary behavior.
The innovative pelvic support cushion (in conjunction with the sculpted seat cushion), works to re-align your pelvis with your spine–creating the foundation for a healthy, balanced spine. Often when we experience back pain, our tendency is to rest up and stop the activity. However, moving on the Tango gradually works the back muscles in a controlled manner helping to avoid stiffness and alleviate pain. Tango combines optimal postural support and movement to create the perfect solution for sitting back pain.
If for any reason the Tango doesn’t help your back pain, you can return it within 30 days for a refund of the purchase price. Please see our Return Policy for details.
Does the Tango help sciatica pain?
Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes pinched. This typically happens because the pressure is being applied to the nerve from a herniated disc, spinal narrowing, or even from the piriformis muscle that is located under the glutes. In any case, the Mayo Clinic (2019) suggests that in order to relieve pain and prevent it from occurring one must keep their postural muscles strong through regular exercise and maintain good posture while sitting. Both of which, the Tango promotes.
By re-aligning our pelvis into an upright and engaged position, and relieving pressure points under our pelvis while seated, the body is able to release pressure off the sciatic nerve. Then, through movement, we are able to improve the blood flow to the affected area and promote healing.
Is it an orthopedic chair?
Tango is designed to provide an ideal combination of optimal support and positioning with safe movement. It can be a perfect orthopedic intervention, supplement to other healthcare initiatives or even preventative measure. In contrast to traditional sitting solutions, Tango encourages healthy movement which is necessary to provide ideal nutrients to your supportive soft tissues (muscles and ligaments).
How is the Tango different from other ergonomic chairs?
Traditional ergonomic office chairs still include a tall back as a reflection of corporate advancement. Contrary to popular belief, tall backs serve little purpose other than a carry-over of prestige or an opportunity to lounge in a diminished functional position– relaxed (case in point: the iconic Aeron Chair by Herman Miller was originally designed as a chair for the aging population!). This allows the body to settle into a reclined position which is most cases results in poor alignment of the user’s body relative to their work station.
Armrests are another hazard to our health. Their only function lies in allowing for an inappropriately supported person to lean to one side to stabilize their upper body. Armrests are also the most common inappropriately adjusted features on an office chair. When they are too high they tend to push the shoulders high causing discomfort in the upper back and neck. When they are not fitted properly they tend to contribute to nerve impingement in the forearm and neck.
So what does Tango do differently?
Tango addresses the “cause” of poor posture and back pain by creating a more aggressive posterior pelvic support. It promotes optimal sitting posture because it embraces the pelvis with an aggressively shaped seat complimented by snug support at the top of the back of the pelvis, near your belt level. With the pelvis supported in this manner, the user experiences a natural balance of their spine from their pelvis to their head. Most people using traditional chairs either perch on the front edge of their seat or completely slump into the tall back, causing excessive demands on their musculoskeletal structure.
Tango eliminates the need for armrests by providing the foundation for a properly balanced seated position. Without armrests, Tango users are able to move freely throughout their workstation without the interference of armrests hitting their desks.
Tango provides a pivot point immediately beneath the users’ center of balance which provides natural movement in all directions up to a safe range of 14 degrees.
